The capital city of Oyo State, Ibadan played host to leaders of liberty across Nigeria on Saturday 16 march 2019 as the Students for Liberty, African staged the 2019 edition of the Nigerian leadership forum. The event kicked off with welcome address by the Nigeria National Coordinator, Bayonle Fesobi. In his address, he thanked the participants for honoring the invite and encouraged them to rise in the face of what challenges them and make efforts to unlock the potentials of a modern, prosperous and freer Africa; transform through conscious education and internalization of the ideals of liberty; and empower themselves through numerous opportunities and volunteering for more inclusive societies. Bayonle highlighted the history of SFL also spoke about the leadership structure, the mission of SFL, he elaborated on the broad objectives of SFL, the structure of ASFL in Nigeria.
With several top SFL leaders and staff gracing the forum to discuss salient issues around leadership, liberty and volunteering in SFL; the ASFL Director, Leadership and Recruitment, Adeniyi Moronfolu exposed local coordinators in Nigeria on how to start a campus chapter, the mode of registration and precautions to take while doing such as Oluwafemi Ogunjobi, The African Program Associate presented on SFL Values, Communication Etiquettes, Networking, and how to maintain a healthy social media account, general email etiquette, and the essential rules.
Similarly at the event was the Assistant Director, SFL International Programs, Founder ASFL, Olumayowa Okediran who took participants through on how they could leverage on the opportunities and get familiar about public policies, advocacy, writing skills as parts of ways of promoting liberty.
The event did not close until Lilian David, the African Director of Alumni Programs/Relations, Don-Elvis Ibeh, the West Africa Regional Director and Adeyemi Charles Feyisade, African Director of Academics took turns to educate the audience on their topical issues surrounding their participation in the advocacy for liberty.
Highlight of the event was the presentation of the the SFL Africa Program Manager, Linda Kavuka when she motivated te member sof SFL Nigeria to look into local fundraising, explaining ways and methods to them on how to convince local donation and committing to scarce resources.
The program which was moderated by Victor Benjamin Ndeche, the Benin Republic National Coordinator and Donald Chike Ibuweike, Southern Nigerian Zonal Team Lead came to an end with closing remarks by the national coordinator, Bayonle who reminded them that The world waits the outburst of young leaders embracing peace as an alternative to force; understanding voluntary cooperation and helping each other grow in freedom; leaving the world more peaceful, more just and united with far more liberty than they found it.
