Former vice president and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar; and governor - elect in Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, held separate closed- door meetings with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta, Ogun State , on Thursday .
Our correspondent gathered that Atiku arrived at Obasanjo Presidential Library around 1pm and spent one hour with his former boss .
Obasanjo ’ s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi , confirmed the meeting .
Akinyemi , however , described the meeting as private .
However , a source at the meeting told our correspondent that Atiku came to seek further advice from Obasanjo on the next step to take after his loss at the poll .
Meanwhile , Makinde and Obasanjo held another closed- door meeting two hours after Atiku had left.
Makinde was reported to have arrived Obasanjo ’ s residence around 4pm and went straight to the inner room of the former President.
The duo later emerged from the closed- door meeting and held another meeting with some chieftains of the PDP , including the former deputy chairman ( South) of the party , Chief Olabode George .
According to a statement by Obasanjo ’s media aide, his boss warned the governor - elect in Oyo State against running a selfish government .
“ Please, run a government that will be make them ask, ‘ Where has this type of government been all this years in Oyo State ?’
“ You must give them something positive ; you must give them good democracy and not that one my younger brothers will call pocketing democracy, ” the statement quoted Obasanjo as saying.
The governor - elect reportedly said the visit was to appreciate and seek wisdom from the elder statesman .
