Atiku, Sule Lamido gunning for Buhari's job?

The Punch had reported that there are indications former vice president Atiku Abubakar could battle former Jigawa state governor Sule Lamido for 2019 presidential ticket on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
The newspaper says its investigations revealed that both politicians have been speaking with PDP party chieftains about picking the ticket.

It said that though Atiku is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), he was already considering returning to his former party if not allowed to contest the current platform.

Atiku’s reported visit to former head of state and PDP stalwart Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida on Tuesday, February 14 at the latter’s Hilltop residence in Minna, the Niger state capital, is believed to be part of the moves by him to clinch the party's ticket.

The Punch reports that Atiku’s consideration of returning to PDP is also the grounds that President Muhammadu Buhari could be considering running for a second term but if not, would choose a successor, and Atiku does not feel like the one Buhari would ‘anoint’.

Though Atiku had denied plans to leave the APC, The Punch quotes sources in the PDP as saying that Atiku is reportedly playing a part in the current moves to reposition the former ruling party.

Meanwhile, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, the deputy senate president, Friday has assured members and supporters of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that there is nothing to worry about over the ruling of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on the leadership tussle in the party.
